Lip Shield Tint is more than just a regular tinted lip balm, it is an advanced skincare formula designed deliver multiple benefits and future proof the lips.

Unlike many balms, which can simply sit on the surface, lip shield melts into the lips to deeply nourish and stimulate the skin to produce collagen & hyaluronic acid – which in turn help to plump lips and soften lip lines. Modern broad spectrum UVB and UVA filters protect, while the oils & botanical extracts support the skin barrier for softer, healthier, younger looking lips. Our superstar Alpine Rose helps to protect against cold sores and speed up healing.

HOW TO USE

Apply daily and before exposure to the elements.
Can be used as a smooth protective base under lipstick/liner/gloss or over the top of your favourite lipstick for extra hydration.
If lips are very dehydrated or dry expect the balm to absorb deeply into the skin - apply liberally and often. As lip health improves time between re-application can increase.
Within the first few days dead skin cells may naturally lift away as the skin regenerates. Continue to use during and following this phase for soft, nourished lips.
A soft muslin cloth or flannel can be gently wiped over the lips to help remove old dry skin.

Can I use Lip Shield under lipstick?

Yes - it makes a great protective base. If you want to use a lip stain or liner, we advise using that product first, then layering over the lip balm and then following with gloss if required.

Peri- and menopause is making my lips dry - will Lip Shield help?

Yes. As reported in the scientific literature, the reduction of oestrogen in peri- and menopause can lead to dryness of the lips. Skin may in some cases become more sensitive to UV. Daily UV protection & the oils within lip shield can helpful to protect the skin against UV damage & dryness.

I get cold sores a few times a year and always on holiday - can lip shield help?

Yes. UVA exposure of unprotected lips can cause a degree of stress & inflammation within the cell, this depresses the local immunity of the tissue – allowing the dormant Herpes simplex virus to activate and a cold sore to appear.

Tiredness, stress & high UV (when you go on holiday) can trigger an outbreak.

Broad spectrum protection, specifically protecting against UVA, can reduce the risk of a cold sore developing (SPF30 or even SPF50 will not help if it is not broad spectrum) which is why lip shield protects against both UVA & UVB and harnesses alpine rose which is strongly anti-viral.

Will Lip Shield protect my lip filler or lip blush?

Yes. Scientific studies and doctors have indicated, Lip Filler can degrade more quickly when exposed to daily UV and lip blush will fade faster.

Using daily UV protection, under your favourite lipstick or gloss, or on its own will support the longevity of the filler and/or colour and is strongly advised.

My acne medication has made my lips so dry & sore - can lip shield help?

Yes. The scientific literature reports that severe dryness is an unwelcome and very common side effect of acne medication, with 97% of patients suffering, and this is often related to the skin becoming more sensitive to the sun. Broad-spectrum UV protection helps to protect the skin and may help to ease skin dryness. Consult with your doctor/dermatologist for advice.
