I'm a brown skinned woman (NC 35 in MAC) with olive undertones. I have two tone lips.
I love these. I've ordered one in every colour, and two of the naked flora clear balm. I think I'm on my way to ordering two of all the others as well. So I hate lip gloss, it's often sticky, uncomfortable and most importantly I don't really like how it looks on my lips. I like satin finishes but I'm not a fan of the glossy look on myself, both with lips and glowy foundation. But nowadays a lot of products are moving towards gloss and high shine because it's trendy. Things like lip oils etc. So it's hard to find something that has a nice colour to go over a lip pencil, has a bit of satin look but not too shiny. That's where these come in.
The formula is very comfortable and keeps my lips well moisturized. It lasts longer than something like Vaseline, and really softens my lips which is important because I have horrible trichotillomania and often destroy my lips with picking.
Now onto the colours. Naked flora is a must, use it over liquid lipsticks which can be drying, and you have the best of both worlds.
The coloured lip balms I use with a lip pencil, which for me is doll beauty in the shade "thank you, next" Which is my perfect everyday shade.
Mountain rose is a bubblegum pink on me, and pulls cool toned. I don't love bubblegum pink personally, it just doesn't work with my complexion all that well. So it's my least used, not really a my lips but better shade for darker skinned women. It could work for lighter skinned women though!
Sheer flora is gorgeous, it kind of reminds me of black honey. It's definitely enough pigment to be visible, but it's subtle, certainly more than mountain rose. An everyday colour in fall for me and looks gorgeous on darker skinned women.
Nude flora is my latest acquisition, and it's surprisingly gorgeous actually. I wasn't expecting much of it because it looks quite light, but combined with a brown lip pencil it makes a beautiful everyday nude. I was wearing sheer flora and naked flora everyday before getting this but it looks so nice that I think I have my new everyday shade. It pulls more pink than the coral on me, so if you have olive undertones you may find this an easier to wear pink than mountain rose.
I haven't tried snowberry red yet, but will definitely get it with my next order.
As for the cons, a balm lasts about a month or two with regular use so it is pricey, But personally I love them so I'm willing to pay. One other thing I don't like is that all of the colour shades share the same case, so mountain rose, sheer flora and nude flora I'll look the same in the case and the only way that you can tell is to open them or look at the bottom for the sticker. I would love if they had different colours for the casing.
Lastly, they come with rather a lot of packaging which I don't love as I can only get them online and I want to purchase them rather frequently. If there was some sort of refill program that would be amazing.
They do send cute flyers and even notes if you order things like the lip mask treatment, Which is a nice touch. But if there was some sort of subscription model where you could get regular orders of the balms without all the packaging that first time buyers might want, that would be great.
All in all, my holy grail and lip balms I will be repurchasing frequently!
